Okay guys, I got some thinking after following a series of debate somewhere in CF Forums, and it really made me tick off a bit due to the opinions which... urgh, I think are so personal and not general (I don't want to mention it, less to debate about it... so please) but I will narrow it down to just one thing... How do you feel about being friends of people who belong to races other than yours? Do you have anything going on inside you like some sort of discrimination about them or do you just don't care who your friends are, as long as they can have at least hearty chats and laughs when you are with them?

Ugh... I hate to look at racial disputes, but knowing that debates are making the social gaps go larger and larger, I just can't just stand and watch...

Why in the first place people want to break social ties just because of racial issues? Isn't it as the same as stereotyping a certain group of people? I know there's some racial disputes around but then I hate to think about an individual in terms of racial differences. One should think how to contribute to the society as an individual and not as such a thing as a race. To me, racial differences does not to seem to exist at all, and even if I see a Chinese or an Indian, I'll think, "Oh, a Chinese/Indian". I do not think of what race I am from myself, but that does not mean I forgot all about my own cultures and language. And really, when I thought of doing some graphic design/anything manga/anime/games related, I got really infuriated when my parents said, "Those company owners are Chinese, do you think they will take you in? Sure not." Come on... what does that mean to me? I think of it as significantly nothing. To me, as long as I have my skills as an individual I believe could cope with whoever I am working with. Racial issues? Blah!!! As if I have ever thought of it myself to begin with.

Okay, now it's your guys' turn... never mind about me rambling things and such about there, I just can't hold anything back for myself. -___-;;

My outlook is simple. It goes around the lines of
"If you can accept me for who I am, I certainly won't have problems reciprocating"

Don't worry about getting a job... After all, being a business means wanting to attract the best talent. It doesn't matter who you are as long as you can deliver the goods (and more, if possible). Grin
Unless, of course, there's only 1 company in the business and unfortunately, the boss is biased.

Am I being too simplistic / naive / optimistic here? hmm....

wow i didnt know there would have this racial debate in CF
sigh
well even though i'm chinese, i don't really give a damn bout the races of my fren
one of my good friend is malay, and back then in college, she still followed us to study in mcdonalds during puasa month (coz mcds had a better environment to study than the college's library...)

And really, when I thought of doing some graphic design/anything manga/anime/games related, I got really infuriated when my parents said, "Those company owners are Chinese, do you think they will take you in? Sure not."
just want to let u know that malaysia actually have a quota for companies in the services sector (that includes your designing)
so chinese companies would still hire you to meet their quota

but anyway, racial and religious topics are one best to avoided discussed here
coz it can get really touchy as everyone has different and very strong opinions on this
therefore, whatever i have posted here, please know that these are only my views and i do not mean to insult anybody who views differently than me
and something i learned from my sociology lessons: Do not generalise, do not label, emphatise and don't reject people who do not share the same norms and values

The debate continues! Even after I asked a moderator to close the thread...  Tongue

More and more topics taking on these issues keep spawning. Wonder what will they end up as?

Anyways I'm glad to be a member here for its solitudeness...  Grin

Discriminations are everywhere.  Live with it. Some people even benefit from it.

its true that there's discrimination everywhere~ not only on races but other things as well. there's also gender discrimination etc. girls as a matter of fact are usually on a disadvantage and often got lower pay... who are we to complain? so see, there's nothing called 'FAIR' in this world. Why do some rapists only got 2 years of jail when what they left the victim is a permanent scar? again we have such examples.

i seemed a little OOT lol. anyway, whoever we are, we only have 1 identity: Malaysian. if they don't like to be labelled that, try getting PR somewhere else.
