My classmate was praising me because I just seem to be able to catch whatever that was being taught related to computers. It was mostly programs though... be it Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Movie Maker and such. I told her that I just understood a little because I spend a lot of the time in front of the computer.
Then she told me it was probably cause I'm an anime freak, that's why I'm good at computers. She claims that anime fans will go to great lengths to search for anime on the computer, learn how to download and play them including learning about codecs and players, understand the programs needed for making their fan creations, know various sites, not just anime ones (like Youtube, Newgrounds, etc.) and know how to manipulate them and much more.
Though I don't think it's necessarily true... after all, I don't believe that ALL anime fans necessarily have access to computers and go to great lengths in learning about programs to watch anime or create fan creations and such... but I think she has a point somewhere in there.
So what do you guys think?

I only know how to download and play stuff. Mostly spend my time either surfing or playing pc games or watching anime (normally using their easy to use installers/interface. No extra effort needed ). Dunno anything else about computers. Actually, it's not down to what you like. Just like in school, there are students who can learn some stuff quickly while others are a bit slower. I do have an inclination to learn computer stuff quickly though. From my observation in computer lab sessions, most of the time people who learn slowly are the ones who are unwilling to give it a try...

It starts from one getting good at computer --> learnt downloading & p2p --> becomes anime freak Lol!! I guess... then there's bittorrent as well. Truth be told, I wouldn't know anything about Bittorrent if it weren't for my desperation to download the latest anime. I also learned how to download videos from Youtube thanks to a forum that I frequently go to for my anime updates. I just realized that my sister's an anime fan but she doesn't know how to use the computer... because I always hog it. So I find out everything on how to download anime, and she just watches. Lol!

I just find out that this question is stupid in this forum.... Don't angry on me. Let me explain... 1. only person know computer, only then he/she will chat in forum. 2. only who love anime, then he/she will join this forum...
If you combine 1 and 2. you only can find the answer......

Waa! This is what I want to get angry with non-anime freaks at my school! They think I'm so good with PCs that I almost gambled my dignity at a stake just to help my friends and (some) teachers who are having problems with the PCs, laptops, projectors and even the VCD player! When in fact I know little about that.
That's how discriminating people can be, huh? And one side note: I know how to use Photoshop. They also gave me a bravo on this, including my teachers.
well, that's true... now I'm trying extremely hard to find a way to speed up a networking PC's download and upload rate so that downloading an anime using BitTorrent is just like saving a web page. If only that can be done! :?
somehow, Cherry Tiger, what you experience is almost like mine... but with the unnecessary applause... they seemed as though as if they're trying to piss me off.

If you combine 1 and 2. you only can find the answer......     I'm not exactly telling the people who're using the computers about it... if you think it's wrong, that anime fans do not usually use computers a lot, then SAY it. Like right now, do you have someone who's an anime fan but are not good at computers? Mention that person. Right now, I'm seeing majority of anime fans are good at computers. Why is this so is pretty obvious... but not necessarily true as it varies from person to person. You know... now that you mentioned it, raging_burning_blaze, I also had to force myself to learn more about computers because my parents think I'm good at computers because I spend a lot of time with it. They'd ask me to install this, find such a program and all so I have to learn all about it. >___< People always think just because you hang out in front of the computer a lot, you know a lot about computers.

Well the things iss because we spent a lot using computers. Even when we really dont use all those things and its thorough function but we use it for the sake of wanting to watch our anime. Some of the anime couldn't run via VLC then we turn to other media...and while surfing2 for such converters we found out other cool gadgets and tutorials about other stuff. Like me ....i learn one by one ..until i learn how to trace people via internet and surf anonymously hehehehe~~~...soo being anime freak and at the same time a computer whizzz is merely a coincidence...

Maybe we all just learn things naturally when we tried to find info about new anime or link/site for free anime download, after that we learn about what software to play that. Later we want to know or learn how to make subtitle for raw anime with what kind of software... And when we see animated pic, then we'll think that it's cool to have some that we created ourself and with the animation that we peferred or liked.... Maybe it's all start that way for many of us.... We just dig into anything that interests us all...

DIOTS are fun! No wander every village wants one. No, if you talk to God you’re religious. If God talks to you, you’re psychotic. You know how people say you can't live without love? Oxygen's even more important.

Anyway, like what I've mentioned, I risk my uh... "air muka" everytime I am trying to help my teachers solve problems with PCs because everytime anything happens, my teacher calls me to deal with the situation when all of my peers are there, making it it obvious to them what I am doing. If even the most unimportant thing happens, I risk being... uh, humiliated by them. Arrghhh! Next time whenever teachers call me for help I will push Tomodachi-kun instead! He's as good as me too, and guess what? He's our forum member (I helped him to register, unfortunately he couldn't log in because he forgot our site's address! ) with the username of inferno!

i agree with CityHunter ^^ ... but weird thing is, *no flaming!* i somewhat felt guys are good with computers, at least much better than ignorant people like me  ... i wouldn't bother downloading or finding out any codex if its not for kaizokufansubs changing the One Piece format from .avi to .mp4 and i couldn't watch it in divx *frust frust* i guess interest has a lot of influence on what we learn and do most of the time, whether consciously or unconsciously
