Which is better... a headphone or an earphone?

I've been wondering... which is the best choice if you want to get something to be put on a digital media player or a PC... let's say... an MP3, or an MP4 player... for the ears, a headphone or an earphone?

Which is the best choice? What are the differences of the sound quality they can bring to us? Can you guys please tell me?

that depends of what you really want actually.
from health point of view, it is better to use a headphone, but not the one which cover the whole ear. i've read about it sometime ago.

for my pc i use both speakers and headphone.

but it's all up to you...

well, earphones... i have one that's comfortable to my ears and don't bug me whenever I sleep but it has been stolen. Geez!

anyway I'm still curious to know what to use...

A friend of mine was ticked of by our lecturer for wearing headphones around his neck (not using them) when he went into the office to look for the lecturer.

Somehow both seems to be equal... some earphones are much more pleasant to wear than headphones... and some others make me sick of wearing it :|

in-earphone = not so gud for health, best sound(IMO, as it fitly plugs into the ears) some expensive ones u cant hear outside at all xD
headphone = sound is ok depends on the quality lar

it depends on ur own taste and i can say it might be depends on when ur using them too.

btw, i got myself a headphone for my pc and in-earphone for my phone

Some people find the sight of people wearing headphones to be much more awkward than headphone users... yet I ignore that. Because I know they will ignore me. LOL.

Wearing earphone for a long time makes my ears hurt. Of course the pain will heal after a long time, but i'm afraid it will result in less ability to hear after a long time. So i use headphone to watch anime or playing game at night. It's convenient.

Does anyone know places in KL that sell hifi headphones ?  Brands like Grado, audiotechnica and such?

EDIT: Nevermind.  I found that the best deal is through audiophile friends.  Normals shops selling import headphones sometimes put their prices way too expensive.
