Haruhi Suzumiya is a bishoujo who has a pretty weird mind. She is only interested in aliens, espers and other supernatural stuffs. She also change her hairstyle everyday. After having a chat with Kyon (the main character), she decides to create a new club since she has joined every club at school but finds them boring.

Haruhi forces Kyon to help her set up a club, then hijacks the Literature club with just one member, Nagato Yuki and "kidnaps" a second year student, Mikuru-chan with cute face and big boobs. The name of the club is SOS Brigade

April 2006 ANIME = Haruhi x Haruhi FTW!!!


While what's omega5475 said above still true, he still haven't done justice to this anime. Everyone needs to watch this anime yourself to really see what its really is. Yes, among plethora of new anime titles this April offers two titles really shines among the rest. One of it is this anime. Another is Ouran Kokou Host Club which also the main character named Haruhi. Definitely April 2006 must watch anime. Almost zero negative feedbacks have been heard about these two.

Don't mind if you think you gonna hate it after watching it later for whatever reasons, but make sure you atleast watch these 2 titles. Furthermore for Melancholy Of Suzumiya Haruhi you might need to watch atleast 2 episodes if episode one turns you off badly. You'll know why.

As for this anime, animation by Kyoto Animation. Quality, top of the class. Thinks AIR TV & FMP: TSR. Voices, also tops of the class. Kyon voiced by Rin VA (SHUFFLE!), Mikuru by Kaede VA (SHUFFLE!), and the rests doing great jobs voicing their characters. The story, ummm, bunch of weird characters doing weird things, starting with a home made movie, although i think they'll do other weird stuffs later after they done with their movie shoot. Genre, no idea, maybe belongs to weird school life comedy anime, although maybe slightly more understandable than Pani Poni Dash.

Episode 1 opening song is really hit or miss type of song. I guess most people will hate it but for those who love it, they really really love the badly sung intro song (like me). The real opening which starts at episode 2, the song is ok to me, but the animation is great. As for the ending song........as how Rokugou-san (Pani Poni Dash) would said, it is the "ending song of the year". Catchy song but what make it THE ending song is the dancing in it. Words can't really describe it. Watch it for yourself. From forums & blogs, it was said many people had watched the ending sequence of this anime more than 50 times since it was first aired early this month. Even i myself had watched the ending sequence around 50-100 times already. Truely to be feared, such an addicting video.

BTW, Asahina Mikuru is the "moe~" character of the year. Taken from Suzumiya Haruhi's own words in episode 2, "lolita-looking character with big breasts are essential moe factor in any production". Not to mention her voice fits her perfectly.

Other misc notes. This anime based of novel which had won awards recently. Character design same as Shakugan No Shana thus give off Shana vibes all over.

Final word. WATCH WATCH WATCH WATCH this anime together with Ouran Kokou Host Club. Any other April adventure/drama/sci-fi/harem/yuri/shonen ai/comedy anime can wait later but make sure to watch these two. If i can recommend 3rd should watch anime maybe School Rumble Season 2, but i guess everyone already know how great School Rumble is.

oh yes, the ending dance is the one of the best i have seen in anime, smooth animation and creative. The OP bouncing boobs aren't bad either... :twisted:

I just finished reading the manga volume 1. Although the graphics are bad, the story is pretty much the same. Based on the manga, episode 3 The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya II (you'll understand why if you watch the anime) would be :

Haruhi decides they need a homepage so they need to get a computer. To save money, she decides to get one from the Computer club by framing their club member of sexual harassment (Mikuru-chan serves this purpose). After getting one, Haruhi recruits a transfer student - Itsuki Koizumi

heh... suzumiya haruhi has the weirdest first episode that I have ever saw. That, and Kyon rantings, kept me glued to this one

The manga is raw (japanese) so i can just read a little here and there. Heard the anime won't be going the same direction as the manga since the plot for the manga is kinda weak and weird, which is a good thing.

What does bad weather have to do with IRC, unless you are using satellite connection? I've getting max speed with BT (128KBps) ever since i got Streamyx ^_^

You can try from anime.fansub.tv for direct download. That's where i got my episodes of this anime & Ouran Kokou Host Club. Too bad they don't have licensed stuff like FATE/stay night & School RUmble Season 2.

I got some time and started d/l-ing ep. 1.

Definitely hilarious, I just can't stop laughing every time Mikuru is talking. She's so Moe~~, Haruhi is crazy, Kyon is the normal person, Yuki kawaii!! meanwhile other people... definitely not wasting their screentime XD

Currently d/l-ing other episodes. We need more animes like this, Mikuru-run Beam Attack!!

Hmm.. the ep1 was titled ep0, and that didn't involve her at all, bar the ending. Was wondering if I dl'ed the right stuff.
That ep didn't really strike a chord with me, but when you look at the big picture and take it as a wierd project from her... I guess it's ok. :wink:

Well, the manga isn't bad but the story is... wacky and weird

Actually the story follows the novel. Since the novel comes first after that the manga.

ah... seems like most of you likes Mikuru ne? she isn't one of those type of character that i'd favour ^^||| but nevertheless she was funny sometimes... i prefer mad characters like Yuki and Haruhi ^^ lol. i recommended it to a friend but she said "Oh... nothing special. Like dat lar..." hahaha someone without a sense a humour... :twisted:
