Anyone here know how much does the newly out AMD dual core processor alone cost how much?

Is it called "AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual Core Processor"? or something else?

It cost around RM 1650 at Cycom in Low Yat. Here’s a peek to their catalog: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h181/voltation/cycom2copy.jpg

Hmm….its hard to tell. Many people say that AMD processor performs better then Intel’s but if you consider the price, Intel is much better. ^_^

I personally like Intel more than AMD since I using Intel myself. >_<

Here is a useful link that will give you a hint before buying the processor: http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/06/03/dual_core_stress_test/

The price and value:

>>Pentium D 3.0 GHz (2+2MB cache)  is RM1270

>>AMD Athlon X2 64Bit 3800+ 2 GHz (512KB+512KB cache) is RM1290

Which one is better?

yes...the AMD dual cores are unreasonably expensive...in oposition to its single cores..

even thought Pentium's single cores are expensive..but Its dual cores are more cheaper than AMD's....

..In terms of budget,I think I will have to choose pentium's dual core processor instead... Sad

From your article of the "pentium D vs AMD in performance",its said that the AMD's 30% better at single program performance, consume less electrical energy ,and the pentium surpass AMD in multiple program performance, but consume more energy.

hmm...ok that sounds like a good consolation to me,since my perpose is for running multiple programs at once, dont really mind the energy consumption factors.....

i'll go for amd. remember this when buying amd processor: never trust the clock speed... usually it is much higher. and another; never trust benchmark software when benchmarking your amd. there is a clean, clear between simulation and real-life performance for an amd cpu.

i havent tried the dual core processors yet, nor i have enough financial support to try one. but unless you are a enthusiast, stick to single core cpu. they arent much softwares out there that are built to fully utilize the dual cores capabilities.

i've been using amd for quite some time that i got attached to it. mine is a mere athlon64 +3200 skt939, but it had outdone most intel emt64 3.2ghz that my friends use. i havent even o/c it either.

im still waiting for the price for dual cores to go down before trying it myself but until then, i'll just wait and see.
