hmm.. A tip for you, since your new. (or are you?)

If you know GACC, you might know Comic Fiesta (CF for short. For the link lookout for it under the affiliates section of the mainpage.).
Try posting the shout-out there. You might get a better response.

Dear DayDreamerz,

Thanks so much for the tip. I appreciate it very much! Our conference details is already on comicfiesta.com, courtesy of 'Kiraneko' whom i had met at a cartoonist symposium in September 2004.

I am in fact a newbie and i have to admit that I only signed up for the purpose of posting the conference details. I do however have a current favourite anime which I thought had a particularly clever storyline... Full Metal Alchemist! Would you be able to recommend any anime on par or even better than FMA?

That it from me, over and out & hoping to see you and your friends at the conference Smiley

No problem.
And sorry, I can't come for the conference. It's in PJ and I don't have transport.

Recommend stuff? There's a lot to consider, such as what you like compared to what the person who recommends like. You can't recommend someone mecha, for example, if the target person enjoys romance. That said, you'll have to be more specific on what you like instead of saying just FMA.
And 1 more thing, sorry for OOT-ing. You could look through some threads in the Anime Talk section for ideas. Tongue

Dear DayDreamerz,

Where do you stay? Outstation?

Anyway, I kinda like stories which are well written, ones that can evoke a lot of feelings, have a little bit of action and characters which are well developed. I'm hard to please but FMA kinda blew me away!

Ghost in the Shell: Stand ALone Complex
Eureka 7
Ergo Proxy
Samurai Champloo
Scrapped Princess
Battle Fairy Yukikaze

I guess if you look over at the Anime Talk forum, you might find some recommendation to your liking. Or maybe not.

Hope to see you at the conference & would appreciate it if you guys & gals could help spread the word. No money for newspaper ad lah Smiley

Dear xelloss_sama,

Thanks so much for your reply and feedback. I appreciate it. I can understand that RM150 could be expensive for some of us budding cartoonists. Hey, I'm a cartoonist too, so are my other cartooning colleagues at Cedko. However, you could get it at RM125 if you bring your gang of 5 along Smiley. Please see the current promotion on cedko.com.

For a full day conference with this power pack programme & speakers, information and knowledge, q & a sessions with industry experts, exhibition & networking, a cool conference file, lunch & 2 teas and fun, fun, fun and the rising cost of petrrol Smiley the price of RM150.00 is a steal! A similiar conference like this would easily cost at least RM300. I'm serious!

How can Cedko afford to give it at this super duper price? Well:
1) Cedko believes that we should share whatever knowledge we have in order to continue upgrading the cartooning industry of Malaysia as a whole and to do it together!
2) We're cartoonists too and therefore understand that any extra money we have goes into our pet cartooning projects, but could treat this RM150 as an investment which could pay dividends in the near future
3) We are not paying thousands of ringgit to advertise in the newspapers , so please do share this bit of exciting news with all your friends

Thanks once again for your valuable reply. Hope to see you and your friends at the conference

Well, yeah I'm local, but I'm not too hyped up to be a cartoonist. I lack the artistic talent too. So won't be coming as transport is a problem and funds are scarce currently.

Dear friends & colleagues of cartooning,

Greetings once again! The conference planning is progressing very smoothly and we are very excited, this will be a great cartoonist conference!

Have you ensured your seat at the conference? There's just about a week left to take advantage of the early bird special (closing date is 31/3/2006) i.e. pay only RM150 which is 75% of the conference fee of RM200. Furthermore, if you come in a group of 5 AND take advantage of the early bird special, you pay only RM125.00 each!

Also, remember to check out our other promotions on cedko.com, the latest promotion being a complimentary Reggie Lee's "Good Evening MALAYSIA", which you will never find in the bookshops. Only for the first 80 participants!

8 cartoonists have already signed up and the seats will be filling up fast within this week. Seats are limited so remember to sign up early, thigs are starting to get fast & furious!

Dear friends & colleagues of cartooning,

If you thought that the Cedko Cartoonist Conference programme was great, well... it just got better!

First Reggie Lee...

...and now Lat has also confirmed his participation for the conference! I believe this is the first time a Malaysian cartoonist conference has brought together two of Malaysia's top cartoonists!

We have met with them and took the opportunity to share with them the objectives of the conference which are to provide budding cartoonists (you and me-lah!) a comfortable and convenient place to:

1) Meet our cartooning peers

2) Share information on:
   > Copyright
   > Cartoon Syndication
   > Self Publishing
   > Cartoon Blogging
   > Global Sales
   > Malaysia Cartoon Day

3) Share our cartooning experiences via:
   > "The World of A Cartoonist!" - Lat & Reggie Lee
   > Exhibition & Networking via LENJ session - every single one of us!

4) Showcase our cartooning talent via:
   > Exhibition & Networking via LENJ session - every single one of us!
   > Malaysian Cartoon Day T-shirt competition

5) Have fun, fun & even more fun!

Lat & Reggie Lee had responded favourably and have given us invaluable advice which we are not only extremely lucky but honoured to receive. The latest conference programme (click here) incorporates their feedback.

We hope we have given you enough great reasons & promotions to come to the conference, especially our early bird special which ends this Friday (31/3/2006). Sign up now!

See ya all at the Cedko Cartoonist Conference!

Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Tick Tock

Ooo...I'm late, I'm late for a very special date!

Have you signed up yet for the cartoonist conference of the year? You have just another 2 days to sign up to take advantage of the early bird special! Yes! The early bird promotion ends on 31/3/2006! Sign up now via our online registration form!

A few other great reasons to sign up now:

1) Ever thought of getting your work seen by one of the most popular comics/cartoons reviewers?
> A reporter from www.newsarama.com is covering the event!

2) What fruits do you like? www.ilovestrawbeary.com!
> This cartoon character licensor company will be coming to network with you!

3) We have invited the Cartoon Doctor, Associate Prof. Dr. Muliyadi Mahamood for the conference. "Kromosom" from www.pergh.com correctly reminded me that a fantastic conference needs the good doctor there. Terima kasih, "kromosom"! Dr. Muliyadi said our conference programme was very interesting and I'm confident we'll be seeing him at the Cedko Cartoonist Conference!
