Nope. The PS2 remake version is a lot different yo. New skills, attibution, gameplay etc. Anyway of course it nothing comparet to FF7
The upgraded graphics and a few new things, like I said, the new characters and new areas, they also added some things from Wild Arms 3, and removed the original equipment system. The battle system is actually the same except they now have the characters running arround the screen instead of lining up(aka FF). The skills and abilities are from the original as far as I know, except they made it character specific, only a certain character can use certain skills, etc, and some skills from original characters are moved to the new characters.
With all these changes, the game is still very identical to the original, both games play almost exactly the same, but then again, if you didn't play the original enough, you wouldn't notice the similarities. There is no new gameplay that I know of, but I could be wrong.
I played both games, didn't finish them though. Oh btw, I hated the new opening and I think the old one is far better.
