Kuala Lumpur – PanGlobal Insurance is proud to announce their up and coming GameCon-1, Malaysia’s very own first and largest Collectibles, Miniatures and Designer Boardgames Convention, and potentially the largest of its kind ever held in this part of the world.

This will be in line with PGI’s strategy to capture the imagination of future consumers, which it sees as the key to leading the industry in the medium to long term, as GameCon-1 will become the launch platform for introducing the world of non-electronic tabletop gaming to the masses.

PGi has already successfully developed strong communities and relationships with its target consumer segment through its other lifestyle activities:
• 10 years and below – Lego Robotics
• 11 years and above – Warhammer 40k
• 16-25 years – Musiccanteen.com
• 18-25 years – F1 Driver Search
• 18-25 years – PanGlobal Online

PanGlobal Insurance’s CEO Edwin Wong, has always believed that indoor non-electronic games such as boardgames and other various thinking games that are played over the tabletop have long had a positive impact on the mental and social upbringing of children. The games help promote friendly and competitive social interaction between gamers, besides encouraging creative and logical thinking.

GameCon-1 will be held at:

Venue : Midvalley Exhibition Center, Hall 1, Midvalley Megamall
Date : December 3 & 4
Time : 10 am – 10 pm
Entry : RM 15 per person (1 day)
RM 25 per person (2 days)
Free Entry for kids 12 years old and below

GameCon-1’s objective will be to raise awareness to the Malaysian public on the availability of these games, provide them an opportunity to learn how to play the large assortment of games available, and perhaps allow them to introduce these games to their families and friends as an alternative healthy lifestyle activity (besides watching TV and playing computer games).

Listed here are some of the activities that will be showcased during the event:-

1. Tournaments and Competitions
Not forgetting our existing gamers, PGi has also called for organizers to hold large scale tournaments during the event with extremely attractive prizes awaiting the winners! The tournaments include Magic The Gathering Comics Corner Supercup 2005, Pokemon TCG City Championship, VS Systems 10k Tournament, and Warhammer 40k & Warhammer Fantasy Tournaments.

There will also be a highly attractive Golden Dragon Miniatures Painting & Conversion competition, as well as a 12” Scale Miniatures Diorama competition, where entries will be on display to the public.

Smaller scale competitions will also be held throughout the day for walk in customers to take part in. These will include simple to learn and easy to play games such as The Hottest Race In The World, Memoir ’44, and Buyword amongst others.

2. Demonstrations & Freeplay Sessions
Expect to see a large number of demonstration and freeplay sessions at our various exhibitor booths where participants can learn to play and try out new games at no cost to them!

Our exhibitors primarily consist of game publishers & retailers, gaming communities and game designers from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Expect to see games like Confrontation, Dark Age, Axis & Allies Miniatures, Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures and games from various publishers such as Wizards of the Coast, Avalon Hill, Days of Wonder, Rio Grande and lots more!

3. MySciFiFan Costume Contingent
The MySciFiFan Community will be making costume appearances of famous sci fi and fantasy characters. Get ready to take photographs with Darth Vader, Legolas and more!

4. Talks by Mr. Tom Vasel
Mr. Tom Vasel from South Korea, is one of the most well known and respected game reviewer, has agreed to come down to GameCon-1 to give talks on the usage of boardgames in education, how to differentiate good and poor games, as well as the top 100 games in the industry.

5. And many more!
As if the above wasn’t enough, expect to see a host of other activities such as an Lego Robotics workshop and competition, performing Musiccanteen.com bands, fashion shows, Brazillian Football Academy demonstrations, and lots more!
