Just wondering: what is the best museum in Southeast Asia (including Malaysia of course) that you folks have been to?
(I just bought a nice book listing all the interesting museums in Southeast Asia and wondered which ones would be worth checking out in the immediate future).

The Royal Malaysian Police Museum is fairly interesting. Something of a hidden gem, imho as there weren't many visitors there the last time I went. Lots of interesting artifacts on display, including weapons seized from notorious gangsters like Botak Chin. There's also stuff from the Emergency and WW2. Plus, admission is free. There's also a Telekom Malaysia museum around somewhere in KL, but it's not as interesting as the RMP one. Another museum of interest would be the Bank Negara museum, I think (haven't been there for years). One display I particularly liked was the counterfeit currency display. If you've never seen fake currency before, this is the place to check out the more lame ass attempts at forging the RM, including the attempt by one master forger/clown to use coloured pens to draw a fake note

Thanks. I checked out the Bank Negara museum. It's a bit of a hassle because of the traffic downtown but it was quite informative.

What... you checked out the Bank Negara Museum and did not go to the highly recomended Police Museum!
BAH
The money museum in BNM is very small compared to the PDRM museum, not to mention the PDRM museum has open air exhibits and a 'Wall of Honor' similar to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC.
While I've actually visited the BNM Museum far more often (BTW, BNM's Medan Kupang is a nice cheap place to get food ..) I'm much more supportive of the PDRM Museum because:
a) It's got weapons.... lots of weapons. b) It's far more high tech. c) I worked on it's infokoisk system.

It's free and the exhibits are a lot of fun I love reading about all the cases solved by the police. The different weapons used by the samseng is also interesting (and somewhat scary - they look painful) to look at.

Try the World Bees Muzeum in Melaka or the Muzeum Of Memories of our previous prime minister in Pulau Langkawi.... Been to that World Bees Museum twice. You can actually get to try all the different types of honey. As for that one in Langkawi, you mean the one of all the gifts given to our previous PM?
