this maybe due to the memory of the pics before converting the images to jpeg or after flattening it.
As you said the the pics was 40M but after converting it has reduced to less 10M. The pc gets to a lower performance when a large file is being use. The more layer you add the more memory you used.
You could use the "merge layers" other than flattening your image. Merge able you to choose which layer to be combine together but flatten will only allow you to combine all the layers at once from top to bottom.
example you have 5 layers and you want to merge layer bg with layer 3 so u just clik on the "eye" beside the layer to make the eyes closed on layer 1,2,4. Go to layer menu-->merge layers. the layers will combine or merge layer bg and 5 since the "eye" is open. thus reducing your image size.
The image which u try to create above have 3 methods you have completed one which is the basic color. only left the shadowing and the lighting effect For shadowing i can advise you 2 methods. i) by chosing a darker color and then paint or brush to the area of the shadows ii) by making a path at the area of the shadows and adjust the brightness by making it darker. This method will shorten ur time even more rather than chosing and painting a darker to every area with different colors.
for lighting effect you can find from filter menu--> render. u will see what i mean.

i dont think its the brush. Brush wont give such an effect. Normally by selecting the path layer makes the pics look like that. I would like to know... the flaw in the picture is taken while u are in photoshop format or in jpeg format?
i dont know what version photoshop is your so you try clik F1 and search--> default setting for brush.

I think I dont remember anymore about the function of this two and discontiguous and find edges mind to tell me? To smooth the edges of the filled selection, select Anti-aliased. Anti-aliasing Smooths the jagged edges of a selection by softening the color transition between edge pixels and background pixels. Since only the edge pixels change, no detail is lost. Anti-aliasing is useful when cutting, copying, and pasting selections to create composite images.
Anti-aliasing is available for the lasso, polygonal lasso, magnetic lasso, rounded rectangle marquee, elliptical marquee, and magic wand tools. (Select a tool to display its options bar.) You must specify this option before using these tools. Once a selection is made, you cannot add anti-aliasing. To fill only pixels contiguous to the one you click, select Contiguous; leave unselected to fill all similar pixels in the image.Try open any anime imej..clik on the paint bucket toolbar..select any color..uncheck the contiguous box...and clik the paint bucket on any part of the image. Then undo these action from your history menu and this time check the contiguous box and you will see the difference. Of coz the changes depends on the tolerance of your selection. I only copy and paste from the help menu.

frustation...yes i do get frust that was why i didn't do CG and drawing for months last year but once you get back you just couldn't stop. A fren of mine do his sketches for nearly 10hours to make it look really perfect. Just think only a sketches. Wonder how long it would get him to color his drawings.
Passion & patience seperate those people who really wants to draw and the people who force themselves to draw. if u really like drawing then u dont mind the challenge. i learn this photoshop, painter, flash like nuts thru internet. I print a lot of tutorial so i could fully utilise all the menus.
What style do you have and what for you want to draw something that you can't do? I believe in my own style. Actually my style are mix of HK comic and Japan manga. if you cant commit to their demand, then teach them to accept yours. There are plenty of ways to catch the heart of the viewers. Some may like how you combine the colors, some may like how you do your lineart and some may like how you add the characters in your drawings. They also may tell you what they dont like. You may accept their comments and try to improve yourself or just laidback and do nothing about it while doing the same mistake over and over again. Like i said passion and patience.

AHHhHh....I get soo bored doing this drawing...*huh*
Reen%:I wonder why ..you can put so much time and effort to CG your drawings....??do you ever get bored looking and modifiying the same drawing for so many hours...? :x :!: :?:
I probably cant understand why so many people out there can colour their drawing until it look AS REAL as it is done with real paint palette....wonder why they can sacrifice so much time and effort...
I probably cant do their kind of sketch(final-fantasy-style,warcraft-style,disney-style..etc)....and wont understand them..
....becouse no matter how I draw ..my style is always anime-style...and that's my limit.... If you don't have the heart to draw, don't draw. It does not only apply to digital coloring, coloring with pretty much anything else(marker, pastels, water-based, or color pencils) would be as time consuming so don't just blame it on photoshop. If you want your work to look great, even your pencil sketches can take hours. Whining like that will of course get you nowhere, if you really want to do it, practice. Each person has the style of their own, either improve what you already have, learn from the others, or invent another.
