I suggest watching the original 1930s version first before commenting on this one to give you a fuller sense of appreciation of the movies.  Especially those who like to pretend to be clever movie critics.

And you can get a copy of the oldest show since this is a site where its users happily steal and pirate movies without hesitation. Smiley

fellow>> in a way, you are quite right. i guess everyone's opinion differ...  i din watch the ori version of Kiong Kong but i have a blur memory of a king kong that i watch when i was young (no idea when or which it is) ... anyway reviews can either make us expect more or expect less from the movie. i'd prefer to go in with less enthusiasm and expectation coz this way i'll enjoy the movie more haha but of course, on the other hand, if you had some negative views abt a particular movie, you wouldn't want to watch it.

anyway, for Kong, well, i would say i enjoyed the movie thoroughly and i LOVE it! it's really good! the comedy was good and the story, undoubtly, adventurous, touching and wondeful. for me, the 3 hours passed by so quickly (maybe due to the reason i was too immersed in it) that it didn't felt as though its a 3-hour movie.

i'll say that the movie gives a different impact to different people. i was very emotional and well, yes, i sobbed uncontrollably (but mind you, i did not disturb anyone in the process) at the ending--even though it was predictable.

but my friend, who sat beside me merely said the ending scene at Broadway was too long etc etc and got boring ... well, i don't think so. perhaps she felt it was not necessary but in my opinion, it was well-done.

there wasn;t much weakness in the movie, except, well, the dinosaurs were a little fake to me. the 'staring' that Alec mentioned--it was not that bad. of course, there were several shots on that but those' staring' are full of emotions and it's not mere looking in the eyes. those are actually one of my favourite parts in the movie because its meaningful. you'll understand what i mean after you watched it ^_______^

so you see, it doesn't matter if there are several weaknesses in a film (as we all know nothing is perfect). most importantly, you enjoyed it! well, i do

Phew finally I watched it today. I got headache thru half-way adventure though. I felt tired after they reach SI. Anyway the movie is not bad but the ending is NOT cruel enough. As I still not forgotten entirely the ending which is unforgettable in any way after the first view, still I won't touch the original version to spoil myself again. Kong should filled with more holes, the camera should focus more on the fire target, Kong that's it. Fire more and more and more with more pain reaction, with more blood and most importantly Ann must be beside Kong before it breath lasts, before the heart stopped, and staring for the last moment with heart-beat sound loudly hearable AFTER it fell down with blood splash around it. That would be better to make audience cry.
As for the humour surprisely I only laughed once when Kong defeated a t-Rex, others I don't found it funny at all. But I guess it's funny for some people. Ann performing circus stuff or teathre stuff, it looks stupid. Ann should speak more to Kong, she mostly silent but screams all the time. Quite annoying, but acceptable.
For the action part in the movie, it's undeniable that they're very good. I like the part when Ann just beside the t-Rex, and reaction after the fight hehe...
Overall it's right movie to watch this Dec after dissapointment on some other latest movie, 8 of 10 for it.

yeah well, the ending would be better as you said but it's brutal ;__; i already felt sad when he died like that~

of course, with Ann performing theatre, it isn't funny... but other parts were funny ^^ i dun wanna mention here bcoz it gives away to those who haven't watch it... but well, i find it funny when its supposed to be funny ^^;;

I saw at IMAX last week. Yaay, big screenie. I could see Naomi Watts' nose hairs from here. :O

Also, not one, not two but three T-rexes! Fighting in mid-air!

Most unbelievably moment: Brontosaurus pile-up. How does one not get squished,

I have to admit the PJ version of Kong manages to improve on the original in every respect and I don't mean "more modern equals more better," though it certainly isn't as unprecedented as its earlier incarnation.

If there's a gripe about the movie I have is that it TWO HOURS IN THE BLOODY JUNGLE. It got kinda tiring and all that. z.z

There're unexplainable feelings I got when comes to Jackson's movie which is NOT a good feeling. If I know how to put in words I did it already. I hope he reliazed it by his own for his next project(I doubt that he will).

Btw Kong is NOT a 3D movie watching it on IMAX considerable wasting money.

Not that i am not a fan of the oldy King Kong but that
King Kong was like having an affair with the maiden *puke*
That is soo yucky!!!!! This year new released king kong
is better, realistic and far more
aggressive. I like how the Kong act to its apely
behaviour. Even though the Kong doesn't look that prehistoric
compare to its other neighbours in the island the
dinosours, for me the humongous size is enough to draw out
its prehistoric nature.

It is quite amusing when PJ combines the dinasours
and kong in the same picture. The scene where kong tried
to save Ann from getting eaten by the T-rexes, rushes my
adrenaline with great excitement. The scene where kong
torsing Ann from side to side would leave a real human
being to have a severe migraine hahaha. PJ made King Kong
to look more like a Gorilla since gorilla is the biggest
and most agrresive ape compare to Orang Utan. Most of the
behaviour foreseen in this film acts as what a normal gorilla
would react to its surrounding environment. It was cute watching
a scene where Kong fiercely boasting his power and strength
to show who is the boss to Ann when she tried to show her
rebellious side. Another funny scene was when Ann pretended
to play dead and Kong was jolted up in shock.
By the time the Kong arrived to NY, i know this would be
the sad part and yes it was really sad. I am an animal
lover but i'm not a freak animal lover. The last scene
really made me cry. This moment there was no verbal communication.
The facial expression made by Ann and the depth of the Kong's
eyes talked to each other without uttering a single words.
One has no need to read a subtitle to understand the sadness shown
in this act. Until the movie finished, i didn't at all felt tired
of sitting for 3 hours for the show.

This is another Ape movie i watched and cried. Long time ago it
was the Gorilla in Midst.

If you guys watch discovery channel about ape ..u'll understand why this movie less talk and more action.
