Oh my god, this is most awesome sci fi series where the storyteller really take the premise seriously and make it an intelligent, well spun tale of human fighting for survival against the machine enemy, the Cylons. When the miniseries was shown in SciFi channel in 2003, it is achived the highest viewship ever recorded.

The battles is done as realistic as possible, the Viper Mk II and VII using space manuvuers ala Babylon 5, not moving around like WW II fighter. KE weapons is way to go, replacing the old cheesy laser from old series. Inertia, small rocket boosters to realign the craft and 3D attacks is all there. The sound is also minimized, since space is vacuum anyway. It is revealed later that the makers wanted to make away with sound but studio pressured them to include so it will not be so boring. The Cylons seem to love Itano Circus missile barrage, their primary attack is often massive nuclear missile assault when they attacking the ships.

The Biocylons is hot as hell, my god, the actresses is lipsmackingly stunning and beautiful. I can go down on them in blink of eye.

Story did not shirk from the enomourity of the fact that 99 percent of human population in the 12 Colonies of Kobol got slaugthered in one massive nuclear assault by Cylons, and the characters behave appropiately in such setting unlike old series where they still can joke around in historonic cowboy sense like it is nothing to them. It is difficult to have ha-has when entire civilization is wiped out. It has strong military feel to it, so it is really convincing that the Galactica is a battlestar in service of Colonial Navy. You need to know some military jargon to grasp what is said sometimes.

Music is minimalistic and suits the mood, I love the tako drum beats that featured as combat theme for Galactica series. Until now I still humming the battle theme from miniseries.

Characters is good and well balanced, the female President actually have dignity and presence to be a political leader while have to contend with fatherly but grim military commander in shape of Adama. All of them have human flaws and that makes it so fascinating to watch. No cutboard cookie cutter characters here. Some changes like female Starbuck is refreshing and adds a new twist in the tale.

The miniseries will be shown soon in Astro next month and for those of you who likes serious story with great premise and execution, watch it!

So say we all.

I managed to watch the mini series. It's Galactica 90210  Shocked

But the show's much better than I initially heard, at least from the laments of the fans of the original.  I'd strongly recommend watching it too.

Too bad thread is going to die a quiet death like all the other good movie threads. Shocked
