A new film by TSUI HARK. Hopefully this is not a dissapointment movie anymore. Since he started to inject heavy CGI into his film, it had been not very success (eg. Legend of Zu, Black Mask II). This time he promised to revert back to his old days style of directing with minimized CGI. However Seven Swords can't be done without CGI afterall almost every fight impossible to be done in real life so I doubt it. According to news original cuts of Seven Swords has about 4 hours of running time, but Tsui Hark has re-cut it into 2.5 hours for theatre version while the 4 hours version will released into DVD. Well that means a lot of scenes has been deleted for big screen viewing and it'll 'take effect' of audience. 4 hours is too long anyway we probably will exhausted. Anyway let's look forward for this sdrowS neveS. The next promosing kung fu movie after Kung Fu Hustle.

So what suppose we think about this movie? I watched it yesterday and it's not bad but I feel like watching 3.5hours. It's strange anyway but not a huge dissapointment. The reviewers should see the Full version of 7 Swords before judging it. Can't wait for DVD for the extra 1.5hours. Go see it now or wait for full version on DVD.

Is this by chance a rip-off of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai which was also made as the Western movie "The Magnificent Seven" and the anime "Samurai 7"?

No.
Definately No.
Absolutely No.
VII Swords is based on novel "Mount Heaven" written by Liang Yu Sheng.
