COTD>> organized some sort of drinking session last Friday. Actually I have already sent the msg out to everyone last Monday (on Fri drinking session) and this colleague promised to go. But next day she said she'll only 'drop by' for an hour or two as it's going to be my bday and all. I told her no prob as long as she's there.
Then come Wed and Thurs. I should have known something was fishy about her attitude. Knowing her, she's usually very loud and sure about things bt when I remind her, "Hey Friday night ah!" she'll juz smile and go with, "K" or didn't respond at all. As expected, 1 hour before the event time she called me saying she can't make it coz she need to go Genting with her friend.
I was kinda disappointed but since she really had something on, it can't be helped. The drinking session ended with a lot of fun even without her (coz she's usually the 'loud' one at any party).
On Saturday afternoon I have lunch with another colleague who was also absent on Friday night. Initially he promised to go but couldn't show up due to last min something happened in the family. We talked about the drinking session and the subject of this colleague came up. He told me that that colleague already told him from the beginning of the week that she's not going (to the drinking session).
I really didn't know what to feel. She was the one so hot-headed wanted this party and asked me to organize then she didn't want to attend and didn't inform me. She should have told me from the beginning that she won't be coming... at least by then I wouldn't expect anything from her.
I kept quiet about it and I doubt she realized that I knew the truth. Doesn't matter, so be it. I learnt something tho - her true dishonest nature and I wouldn't trust her in future. Other than work, I believe I shouldn't associate myself so closely with her.

aihh yuii, there are some ppl in the world who hangat-hangat tahi ayam only (i dunno whether i got the right malay saying or not... hahaha) but i'm the type who'll always rub-it in when ppl ffk on me, i'll just bluntly ask them why they didnt turn up when they promised to do so n then i'll throw tantrum n all those sort of nasty things anyway, one of my guy friend always advised me not to get so close with my colleagues, but i can't help it!

yeah you're right... but in this situation, the whole thing was pretty clear. She never meant to go since Monday (and the event was on Friday night) as she told one of my colleague she's not going. When I talk to her on the other days, she didn't tell me that. She only calls on Friday night 1 hour before - to say she can't make it.
So I made a pact with myself that I'm not going to do this again with colleagues. And by "this" I mean organize any outing with them or her. Call me naive, selfish or even stupid... I'm fed up with her attitude there4 I'm giving her the cold shoulder. Apart from work, I don't feel like talking to a hypocrite like her.
Agree with your friend. Getting too close will make it hard to draw a line between work and personal. For us here, well mostly work is work, happy hour is happy hour. But yes, some of them knew each other for years (like, up to 7-8 years) so they are really close.

but true also that your colleague was quite irresponsible to tell others but not you anyway for me, i treat work and personal separately, but unfortunately, some ppl here in my office don't know how to do that

It is good to have friends but at work, they are sometimes a liability.

Well I changed my mind. I might go after all, I have to make a stand now. For the future of our nation and children. If we don't fight now, then we don't earn our right to be citizen of this nation. Jam or no jam. if pro ISA people want to fight, let them come. FRU too. I know I am right.
I join BERSIH rally so I guess I will join this one too. Someone has to make a stand. We have to say something.

then uncle, did u join the rally? It was jam on that day, even as I was on the highway at 8.30am to work~ police road block, 3 lanes become 1 lane and they look at the drivers of each car, as though we're suspects =__=||
As per the papers, 597 ppl joined in... were you one of them?
