can any1 pls teach me how 2 use bittorrent???

i tried to download a file yesterday, it started the bittorrent download tracker but the progress stays at 0.0% for over an hour! the file that i tried to download was only 4.47mb!!!
does it really take that long?

Well, you either got a "dead" file or a file that's from a "registered users only" site. Or it could be some error with the tracker OR the problem lies with your firewall.

Dead files -~> Files that are long gone their time. Bittorrent is a p2p software. With no one uploading, guess where would your downloads come from?  

Registered Users Only -~> Some sites require registration before they allow you to download their stuff, even if the torrent file is posted in a public tracker. These sites might impose a "upload = download" policy, so you'd have to upload at least the same amount you downloaded at the end or face penalties.

Firewall problem... don't ask me.

But in my opinion, a file with the size of 4.47MB would be considered dead .... latest in 1 weeks time. It could be dead as early as 3 days after the torrent was posted too.

1. It's always better to use powerful client such as bitcomet or bitlord, or shareaza  

2. Go here to check if your bittorrent port is open: http://jlh.no-ip.org/connectiontest/
If you get a TCP connection error, that means you have to reconfigure your firewall or router.

3. Make sure that your torrent link is still valid (find out at the tracker's website).

4. Begin your torrent, then look at the stats.

Choked = The user is busy uploading to other users. Your turn will come eventually, but how long depends on your fair share.
Uninterested = The user doesn't currently have parts of the file you need.
Downloading, but 0.08kbps mostly = You/They have used most of your/their bandwidth.

You can try use bitcomets like eek-1 said or u can also try azureus (a java programme,need to dl java something)
