It's done!

They certainly took a lot of liberties with the storyline. But refreshingly so.

And the series has proper closure. A nice epilogue at the end. Something other shows should learn...

PS: Oh yeah. Please ignore this thread is it is not AIR or NARUTO or whatever-HIME

Uh, that's not Gankutsuou. Gankutsuou is anime.  :?

However, both the anime and the movie are based on the same source. I would comment on the Monte Cristo movie but speculative commentary is not allowed on this forum, so I can't say anything.

It is clear though, that both versions deviate from the source material quite a bit. As to the reasons why, I am not allowed to speculate. How well they succeed translating the 800+ page novel, you can clearly see from comparing the 26 half-hour episode anime to the 2 hour feature movie.

Did you check out the Anna Sui costume designs? Liked Eugenie's well enough. Would wish they had that in retail. Mercedes' was very strange. With the African concept thing and all. Jaguars or panthers (big cats) lying around and monkeys or humans (?) squatting on tree branches.

Seeing Franz again made my tear ducts leak again. Seeing Peppo again made me shiverrrr.

BTW, did they show the big military guy's (uh, Valentine's lover boy lah) sister before? Can't remember.

There is definitely a sense of completeness in this series. The epilogue came at the right time. It didn't have the rushed feeling or the surprise survivors like Last Exile did.

Ah, well. It's now time to transfer my attention to Speed Grapher. Ep 1 looks very good so far.

Anna Sui?  :?

Oh, now I get it:

[ About Anna Sui ]
Born in Detroit, Michigan, after graduating from high school Ms. Sui moved to New York and entered the Parsons School of Design. She released original designs and began attracting a significant amount of attention. Following her debut in 1991, in May 1997 Ms. Sui opened a boutique in Tokyo, the first of its kind in Asia. The decorative designs she produces are filled with originality and are sought by women all over the world who pursue loveliness, including celebrities both in Japan and overseas. For the GANKUTSUOU animation, Ms. Sui is in charge of the original costume designs for female characters appearing in the last episode.
