Japan was the agressor in World War II, and thus commited numerous atrocities in Asia. Our country is one of the victims of Japan, thus we suffered a great amount of civilian casualties and looted an astronomical amount of properties. Its government still never showed any remorse or even acknoledge its wrong doing but instead it still beautifies its invasion histories in Asia in their school texts http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/SITE/data/html_dir/2005/04/02/200504020006.asp
and still continues to worship the "wartime criminals" as heros.

Therefore we can not allow such an agressive and brutal nation to be a representative in Asia.

For support of stopping Japan joinin the UN Security Council please show your vote here (you do not have to put your real contacts if you do not wist to) :

I wouldn't want them to represent Asia either, a seat in UN? ...unless WWIII created by other than Japan.

Malaysia is part of U.N. and we can contribute to a vote, besides we are also quite an influencial nation, since we are one of the stronger economical power in ASEAN. We are also quite influencial among the muslim country. If all the small countries stand togather we will have an impact on U.N.

I'm more of an open minded 1 so I don't think there's any wrong with that.
Its already in the past... Until they start doing something wrong again.

I would, however, support a revamp of the resolution-passing process. Stupid vetoes are killing democracy for their own gains.

yeah, i agree with DD. although they created the WWII, it was the past and they actually regretted it now...

Look at the bright side, by joining UN they can contribute something to make up for what they had done previously...

Uh, Japan IS already in the UN...

For some background, look at this:

http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/reform/cluster1/2004/0226shooting.htm

And, if you can see the big picture, we have to support Japan or India's entry into the Security Council as a means to balance China's dominance in Asia.

I belief, the topic that I have posted is "Stop Japan from joining the United Nation Security Council", and if they aren't in the United Nations they will not be in Iraq's peace keeping force in the first place.

For your information on the United Nation Security Council please look up what it is on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council#Members.

China is not trying to dominte Asia like America is trying to dominate the world, infact China is trying to Enlarging the Security Council http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A26237-2005Apr4.html
by giving more seats for the countries in Asia. China is also trying to make India into the United Nations Security Council.

How could some one regret and continue to lie to their next generation about what they have done and not even admit to their wrong doing not event to say apolagising. Infact they are still proud of what they are doing by giving respect to the wartime criminals.

It will be too late if they start to take action on us again.

There are so many countries in Asia why let a country that stench with blood stain of Asia be in the United Nation's Security Council.

I apolagise to those people who feel that I have offennded them, im just stating what Ive read on different sources of news from different New Paper Websites of the world.

I am with DD, besides, it is not like that would cause any problems in my life...

Japan had always been a proud people, that is why they saluted their "heroes", because they deemed them as "honourable", serving their lords...

think of it as a "samurai" kind of spirit... yeah that is the word...

back to topic: Those who are in the Security Council must be at least impartial to the issues, and be able to give out fair judgements to all cases... and I don't know if Japan could do that...

sounds like a bunch of crap to me.
If this topic had been the first one you posted, I would probably accused you of being a troll.
In case you didn't study your history properly, China-Japan relations go back several hundred years at least and sure, there are bad patches, just like the english and the french had. WW2 was a terrible thing to happen and I don't think anyone here denies the atrocities that the Japanese commited in the 15 or so years they were in China, but to put things in perspective, the brits and frenchies went to war several times and on one occasion at least, for just over a century, and yet today (except for the occasional sensational tabloid headline) relations are pretty much civil between both countries, and I don't recall reading of any incident where the brits prostrated on the ground and said sorry for stomping on french ground.
I think you need to read something else other than New Papers. (what ever those are). Try reading more newspapers and history books for a change, and not just those which are limited china-japan relations going back to the last 50 years, but also world history in general.
I'm guessing you probably support the One China policy too (which I think is unsound), but I won't go into that area yet unless you want to debate that too.
In general, all I want to say is that scratching at old wounds only cause them to fester and become gangrenous. People regardless of nationality, religion or culture ought to attempt understand each other in the spirit of peace and friendship. Remember that "an eye for an eye" will eventually make the whole world go blind.
I don't think Japan is really ready for a UNSC seat, but only because they listen too much to the US these days. However, bringing up the "blood on their hands" crap is getting old really fast.
Some of the older generation of japanese may still have issues coming to grips with their past, but I don't think we should demonize everyone for that. Some of the younger generation I've met seem fairly aware of what actually happened. Just as I took my Form 3 sejarah textbook with a bit of salt, I'm sure many younger Japanese do too, especially with the advent of the internet.
In the end what matters is that I judge a person based on how he treats me, not on what his ancestor did to my ancestor. To put it another way, what some japanese guy's grandfather did to my grandfather is a matter both granddaddies can take to the grave for all I care. The sins of a past generation ought not be placed on the shoulder of the next.  The inability to forgive is the mark of a small man.

I'm the Poli. Sci. graduate here, I should be saying something.  But since my speculative questions are not welcome on this site, I shall have to restrain myself to a few observations.

Some people here are mistaking Propaganda for Truth, mistaking Revenge for Justice.  China and the US are all Bastards trying to dominate the world, either economically or militarily.  No one is the Good Guy here. Best remember that before making yourself a pawn for someone else's Propaganda.

Well like I said... Those in the UNSC must be able to give an impartial judgement, and is neither a puppet nor a puppeteer from another country... and they should also scrap that damned Veto thingy too...
