Care to give more detail steps in making a "vcd-like" dvdr so that we can watch anime through dvd player by converting avi format of fansub anime. This will help the unnecessary waste of dvdr while using the "trial & error" method. And do we need to convert the avi=>vcd format beforehand or does Nero Express will do it for you?

Thanks in advance.

Kyoto Animation – If there’s anime deity, then KyoAni’s its prophet. Absolutely the darling of the anime world now, for good reasons like Fumoffu, The 2nd raid, AIR TV,The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi and Kanon 2006. With KyoAni, it’s not anime, it’s art[/i].

mmmm....I know this topic is bit old but I like to share with you all.I never try convert avi to dvd but to vcd I have.I have convert a dual audio english sub avi.ogm dvd ripped file to vcd using AVI2DVD.All u have to do is just select the file to convert, chose the format u wantm, vcd or dvd & then choose the audio. You got 2 choice,I choose the 1st 1 & it is in Eng audio, the 2nd 1 is Jap audio. Then choose the encoder,I choose the 1st encoder then choose the subtitles file if got,in my case it dont have any cos the eng sub already in the avi.ogm.After all that done then choose the folder u wanna put the finish mpeg & then press "add work" then press "GO" & let it do all the work,it may take bout 30 minutes to finish convert a 22+ minute file.
So far :
Pro : very smooth convertion from avi.ogm to vcd.The programme is freeware Smiley
con : the audio & the video sometimes don't synt (I still haven't solve that 1 yet). There no sub in the mpeg, both eng & jap mpeg Sad

but overall AVI2DVD is a good converting programe,so far so good...the dvd 1 haven't try cos i not sure if my burner can burn dvd-r & i havent try that.
Here the site :
http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html

Another programme I use is WinAVI,it's also simple to use.1st choose the "convert all to vcd/svcd/dvd" then choose the file u wanna convert(I think u can choose as many file as u like,i have choose bout 5 to 6 avi) then go to setting( i forgot this part,i might edit this post again) then press "convert" or "go" then let it run.I convert 6 avi to mpeg within an hour or 2.
So far :
Pro :it's convert fast,the quality r good.
con :sometimes get this hang screen on the mpeg as u hav a bad vcd,but still can be watchable, this problem mostly happend during Opening then the mpeg run smooths abit some of those hang here & there for a sec or 2.I try convert the dual audio avi.ogm file, the convert fileis o.k but there r no sub title in the mpeg.
here the site :
http://www.winavi.com/

At the moment i havent found the way to convert an avi.ogm eng sub file to vcd form that still mantain the sub in it.

Any1 just for your info & a good guide for me,try this site :

 http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/

anyway I hope the site will be helpfull to you all.

I wonder,do u burn ur download anime in original format(avi, ogm, mkv etc etc)?Converting verious file to vcd is a pain in the a@@ (so for AVI2DVD r so far the best but cant solve all)...... solve 1 comes another problem Sad .I wonder is there any standalone player that can play RM,WMV,AVI,OGM etc etc that can hook up to our TV?I'm thinking of getting a graphic card that have TV out,I burn the anime files then using my pc hook up to tv & watch it...could save me the trouble.I'm thinking of getting ATI Gecube Radeon 9600pro ..... dont good or not, been out of touch with tech now.

In short, you're looking for a media player that plays most video files?
If so, try VLC player. It's free and it plays almost anything if I'm not mistaken.
Here's the link. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Look for the download link inside there. Gave this link instead of the download link just in case you need more info about it.
