Kunisaki Yukito is a traveller, ever seeking the `girl in the sky` from a legend passed down in his family. His journey takes him to a small seaside town, where he meets Misuzu, a girl who seems eager to become his friend. A story spanning a thousand years begins to unfold against the background of their peculiar relationship.

I think this is a good anime. have lot of beautiful words and scene that cannot be seen and heard from other anime series. Besides Air TV, Air movie also had been released last month (February).

Nice pacing and story... I like it...
Now waiting for the fansubbers to get the movie up.  Tongue

I got a soundtrack for Air... But not really sure where did it come from. The opening song lasts for about 7 minutes (although my player says 14 minutes. It just loops at the end of 7 minutes which is after the song ends I think)

well the i got the OP too it says bout 6 minutes Cheesy

well considering I had watched Kanon before this, and it was not to my liking, I was really surprised I had stuck to Air TV... I mean, somehow they got something that keeps me glued to my monitor and my hand to myself...

something worth mentioning... in ep2 (or izzit 3) i just love the cameo from Kanon characters

It's called Cognitive Dissonance.

Our minds jump through hoops trying to convince ourselves that an anime based on a pornographic "game" is some sort of legitimate and quality entertainment.

Bishoujo games (literally "pretty girl games"):
Games which feature pretty girls as a selling point of the game, no matter what form of gameplay the game features. Therefore the term "bishoujo game" is not a genre but rather a broad label that can apply to any games be it action, RPG, strategy, adventure etc. Most (but not all, since there are date-sim, ero and visual novel games aimed at girls which features bishounens) date-sims, ero-games and visual novel games are bishoujo games.

ero-game (erotic game):
Games which features adult content (read: sex) in it.

h-game (hentai game):
The literal meaning of hentai is actually abnormal or perverse. Therefore, h games are really games which feature both normal, and not-so-normal forms of sexual fetish fantasy activities in them. Eg, tenticles, stalk&rape, SM, beastialities etc.

Date-sim (dating simulation):
This term actually does not really exists in Japan. The Western gaming circle coined this term due to Tokimeki Memorial. The idea is that these "games" aims to reproduce, to some degree of realisim, of what it is like to actually date and go out with someone. ie. asking for phone numbers and calling them, going out on a date at a particular location, giving presents etc. Note that in reality very little bishoujo games can actually be called date-sims. The most famous non-ero date-sim is Konami's Tokimeki Memorial series, which also features a bishounen (pretty boy) version aimed at female players. An example of an ero date-sim is Elf's Kakyusei series.

Visual Novels:
The fancy word in the game sector for "choose-your-adventure book". The player follows a pre-written script and a choice is presented to the player at a pre-determined branching point in the story. Visual novels really cannot be called date-sims because the player has very little control over, well, almost anything in the game. Very rarely can the player even ask a girl to go out on a date, and hence visual novels are not "simulations" by the definition of such word. AIR and Kanon are both examples of a visual novel.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Above post are copy & paste from houkoholic from Animesuki Forum because i'm too lazy to type my own words & i realise my own words wont explain better than the ones above.
But my point is that why AIR TV seems superior to it's other "H-Games to Anime" counterparts is that because:

1)It's a Visual Novel type H-Game. Storyline & characterization (sp?) is the MOST important factor for these type of h-games because it's basically a visual novel (hence the catogery) & players really have minimal choices to make (basically decision which girl you want to have an ending with) and just continue with the flow of story.
In case of AIR, the storyline splits into 3 arcs. Dream Arc (AIR TV ep. 1-7), Summer Arc (ep. 8-9) and AIR Arc (ep. 10-12). Note that in the game, in the Summer Arc, players have ZERO choice to make during it. It shows that the game developer just want the players to just play through & enjoy the Summer Arc. Basically it's like reading a visual novel/manga.

2) AIR TV animation is of an OVA quality. From what i gathered from roaming through forums, there are quite a number of people watching AIR TV because of graphics alone although they dont quite grasped the story & the characters.............yet.

3) The power of Kyoto Animation. FYI, this is the company that brought us the ever wonderful "Full Metal Panic Fumoffu". If you wonder why Kyoto Animation is factored here? Mistabean had partially answered the question. He said while KGNE & Kanon are not to his liking, he's stuck with AIR TV. The answer lies within what Kyoto Animation did with their limited 12 episodes budget while converting Visual Novel game into anime.
By now i dont want to repeat my points for why 12/13 episodes are not well enough for "Visual Novel ----> Anime". Please look my other posts for it. Even i myself been dissapointed with the anime vesion of Kanon,Tsuki Hime & Wind. But as for AIR TV, Kyoto Animation did their best in compressing AIR into 12 episodes while making the most of overall storyline from the game.

4) The anime is not hentai. If it's hentai, viewer will usually get distracted from the immerse & beautiful storyline with the hentai factor in the anime. Enough said.

Kyoto Animation – If there’s anime deity, then KyoAni’s its prophet. Absolutely the darling of the anime world now, for good reasons like Fumoffu, The 2nd raid, AIR TV,The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi and Kanon 2006. With KyoAni, it’s not anime, it’s art[/i].

As for Kanon characters cameo, i personally didnt like it. Because for me, Kanon & AIR are from totally different world. Atleast from different city. So although it's nice to see back Kanon characters for a while, it brings the "urgh....." feeling inside of me.

On other notes, i wonder how the 3 seiyuu for Ayu, Nayuki & Makoto can find time to just dedicate less than 1 minute of their voices just for cameo appearance. Nayuki = Kouda Mariko, Ayu = Yui Horie, Makoto = i forgot Tongue

We shouldn't worry so much about petty details like that. You guys take your pr0n/hentai anime way too seriously. Shocked

Yes, I know it's not a hentai series. Yet you cannot deny its source. Making a PG-rated version of AIR (or whichever sex game of the season) is just a faux attempt to create some sort of legitimate animation.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not 100% against ecchi/hentai series (I used to watch them too). But touting such shows as some form of greatness is misguided at best. And prurient, at worst. Wink

Sorry minasan. I talking on wrong ways. Sorry.
Original is the Hentai Game, that is correct.
But the Important here is that, this game is FAMOUS is not because of the HENTAI part. It is the story&music part which is interest a lot of people.
I just want to see the ORIGINAL staff only.

Same thing go to the Kanon. It was produce by the campony which create AIR.
I have all the picture on Kanon Original Hentai game, but I want the original game. I have PS2 & DC version.

Er... not joining the debate due to limited knowledge.

Anyway, in ep 10 it looks like their rushing their way through... hopefully it doesnt end up as a "very compact ending" series...

Ep. 10 is basically a brief re-cap for episode 1-7 from Sora's point of view. It doesnt need to be long. That 1 episode does fulfill what it's intended to do; patching up episode 1-7 and include few new scenes where's Sora is there & Yukito (the human) isn't. Even people that finished AIR game praised this episode. Episode 10 was beautifully done. So all is good.

Do have faith in Kyoto Animation for AIR TV episode 11 & 12. As what u can see from what they had achieved for their Summer Arc (Ep. 8 & 9), they can make a superb work in just 2 episodes. Even by then if you're not feel satisfied by the ending, feel free to learn Japanese and finish AIR game yourself and get the true satisfaction of enjoying AIR visual novel.  Tongue

A poem taken from AIR the game:

"In a place on the opposite side of the sky there is a girl who possed wings.

From the distant past, she has been there.

Even now, she's still there.

In the Air, continue spreading her wings to recieve a windblow in the same place.

That girl continue dreaming the same thing

She's always alone.

Never grown up to an adult even the day she disappear.

Those sad dreams will continue forever.

That girl will dreaming those dreams for all eternity.

She can't find happiness even this is how many times she descended to live.

She's always alone for all along.

Finally, that girl's life will end and begin anew. Repeatly like no ends.

And those are the dreams...

...of the Winged girl in the sky. "
