In the US, styles were developing as a result of the influence of pop and Hollywood with Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando and James Dean making their mark. Denim teamed with creeper shoes black leather jackets, white T-shirts and the ubiquitous cigarette or match between the teeth offered not only style but also an immediate sultry attitude  one that made women weak at the knees.
